Actor Abhishek Bachchan has spoken up about his Covid-19 diagnosis last year and how he battled the condition alongside his father, Amitabh Bachchan. Abhishek discussed his fears for his father’s health and how they would spend time together in the hospital during an Instagram Live session with motivational speaker Anand Chulani.
In July 2020, Abhishek and Amitabh became the first in the family to be diagnosed. Abhishek’s wife Aishwarya Rai and their daughter Aaradhya were later revealed to be positive as well. “My father and I were initially admitted to the hospital together. My wife and children were hospitalized a week later. Thankfully, they only had to remain for about a week before leaving, and my father and I stayed a little longer because we hadn’t tested negative “He stated.
“Well, he is a terrific company to have,” he said of spending nearly a month in the hospital with his father. “It was fantastic to get up and go visit my father who last year was 78 years old, a man with significant comorbidities but him being optimistic and having the fighting spirit to go through this.”
“At that moment in time, obviously, my energy was clearly oriented towards him and him getting better because you fear for your parents, and it’s genuinely a delicate age group,” he continued.
Abhishek, on the other hand, didn’t mind spending so much time with Amitabh. “I mean, he’s also a wonderful buddy of mine, so it was nice to catch up with him, and you know, when you’re a Covid patient, you can communicate with other patients, but there’s nothing else to do except waiting. So there was some decent banter, I mean he is a terrific roommate in that way “He stated.
