A Supercolony of 15,00,000 Adeli Penguins have been detected in the rocky dangerous island near the northern side of the Antarctic Peninsula. Adeli penguins are found in the Antarctic Peninsula. In the last 40 years, their total population has been declining.
A study led by researchers from the US Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHO) researcher found important information about this species of penguins. Heather Lynch, associate professor of American Stony Brook University, said that for decades, these super colonies of Penguins could not come to our knowledge, but now we have finally found them!
In 2014, a picture taken from a NASA satellite, which clearly indicated that there are signs of a large population of penguins on the island. After this the researchers arranged for a campaign on the island. When a group of researchers arrived in December 2015, they saw thousands of penguins on the island.
