The identity of the dead body of a boy who was found half-buried in the sands on the Kuakhai Riverbank. The river flows on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar. On Thursday evening the Commissionerate Police found the body after more than 24 hours.
It was followed by a 3-D scanning of the deceased body in the presence of the magistrate. The corpse was recovered by the police and sent to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for post-mortem.
Despite the fact that the body has undergone post-mortem, sources say that the reports have yet to arrive. However, preliminary examination by specialists found that the young man’s height was roughly 5.8 feet and his weight was average.
Though the post-mortem reports are yet to come, the investigating team has discussed with the doctors who conducted the autopsy. Preliminary findings revealed the youth was between 18 and 25 years of age and he weighed around 46 kg. The doctors are yet to ascertain the exact cause of his death. His viscera has been preserved and will be sent to State Forensic Science Laboratory for examination,” informed Bhubaneswar DCP Umashankar Dash.
“The autopsy has been done and the reports will be given over to the police soon,” said Sachidananda Mohanty, Medical Superintendent of AIIMS Bhubaneswar. The viscera and other components of his body have been stored for further investigation. The cause of the youth’s death will be determined soon.”
In the previous week, 40 missing person complaints have been filed at several police stations in the State Capital city, according to authorities.
However, no missing person case involving a young person aged 18 to 25 has been reported to any police station.
Meanwhile, police have released posters with the youth’s face and other items collected from the crime scene, such as a shirt, trousers, half pants, gold earring, and slippers, in order to identify the deceased.
