A feather to the treasure of Kerala- will be international pilgrim centre.
The Padmanabha Swamy temple situated in the state capital of Kerala is a renowned pilgrimage centre in India .The city came to be known as thiruvanthapuram after the main deity of this temple The lord Vishnu .The magnificent architecture of the temple is a fusion of Tamil Nd Kerala style temples ,the principal deity Vishnu is preserved in the “Anantha shayanam”posture ,the eternal yogic sleep on the serpent adisheshan .
The temple has been referred to as the “Golden temple” in ancient history ,as it was mentioned in some literatures that some of the walls were even made out of gold .The temple and its assets were controlled by the Travancore royal family till the supreme court ordered to handover the possessions . In June 2011,the supreme court directed the archaeology and fire services to open the secret chambers for inspection and to every ones astonishment they found treasures worth 20 billion dollar which comprised of ,a three and a half feet tall solid pure golden idol of mahavishnu studded with hundreds of diamonds and rubies ,18 foot long pure gold chain ,a gold sheaf weighing 500 kgs and many such valuables .
In the recent past ,a Singapore based global citizen forum lead by bupendra Kumar Modi a well known entrepreneur and philanthropist took an initiative to promote the temple as an international pilgrimage centre ,his movement is aimed at promoting “Sanatana Dharma”as the guiding force of the world, and have formed a committee with the royal family to discuss regarding the upliftment of the temple .
He is encouraging people ,specially Hindus to contribute in preserving this treasure and architectural wonder so that our future generations will understand our countries art , architecture , history and assets .
