The Kushabhau Thakre Nursing College on Monday rusticated two Kashmiri students for allegedly posting anti-india comments on social media over the Pulwama terror attack.

The college has filed a police complaint against Khalid Bashir and Abir Mohammad. Khalid and Abir were in the third year of a BSc (nursing) course.

On February 16 – two days after the horrifying Pulwama attack – some students filed a complaint with the college authorities against both Kashmiri students. “It was around midnight when some students called me up and forwarded me the Kashmiri students’ Facebook posts. I told them to keep calm till Sunday morning,” said college chairman Tazwar Khan.

By Sunday morning, the posts had gone viral and a group of protesters gathered in front of college, said Khan.

“Realising the situation, I filed a complaint against both students with cyber cell and Kolar police station. Both students have been rusticated,” said Khan. The college has six Kashmiri students.

On Monday, the college authorities waited for Khalid and Abir to turn up. “When they did not, we
sent people to find their whereabouts. All six Kashmiri students were not found at their homes.

Later, I was told that they have all left the college without informing us,” said Khan, adding that they have given police all information they have on the duo. Activists of Bajrang Dal went to the college on Monday, suspecting that the duo was hiding on campus.

“We took representatives of Bajrang Dal into the college. They searched everywhere but found nothing. Still they were sitting outside the campus,” said Khan. Till Monday night, a heavy police force was deployed on campus.
