Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav urged the athletes competing in the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games to focus on winning international medals, assuring them that the rest would be taken care of by the government.
He made these remarks during a ceremony held at TT Nagar Stadium on Wednesday, where honorariums and appointment letters for government service were distributed to the champions of the Paris Olympics and Paralympics 2024.
Expressing pride in the resurgence of Indian hockey at the Olympics, he highlighted the significant contributions of Madhya Pradesh’s Gaurav Vivek Sagar, emphasizing how his achievements have brought pride to the state.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav presented incentive cheques of Rs 1 crore each to 3 players, Rs 10 lakh each to 3 players, Rs 3 lakh to one player, and Rs 2 lakh to one player.
On this occasion, Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Vishwas Sarang, MLA Bhagwandas Sabnani, Additional Chief Secretary Sports Smita Bhardwaj and a large number of players and their parents were present.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for exemplifying the spirit of sportsmanship by warmly welcoming winners.
He noted that Prime Minister Modi lifts the morale of players who have not yet won medals, encouraging them to approach future competitions with renewed enthusiasm.
Dr. Yadav mentioned that even when our female wrestler faced challenges and was unable to secure a medal in the Olympics, Prime Minister Modi stood by her side in support.
He added that the Prime Minister not only congratulates players for their efforts, regardless of the outcomes, but also acknowledges the contributions of scientists when they strive for higher goals.
Medal winners become millionaires
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav honored Olympic medalist hockey player Vivek Prasad Sagar, Paralympic medalist judo player Shri Kapil Parmar and shooting player Rubina Francis by presenting them cheques of Rs 1 crore each on behalf of the state government.
He gave Rs 10 lakh each to Olympic participant ishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar, Paralympic participant Prachi Yadav and Pooja Ojha, Rs. 3 lakh to World 6-Red Snooker World Championship winner Kamal Chawla and a cheque of Rs 2 lakh to Deaf Shooting Championship winner Shri Chetan Hemant Sapkal.
Appointment letters given to Vikram Awardees
Minister Sarang presented appointment letters to outstanding players who received the Vikram Award from the year 2017 to 2022 in the Water Resources, Public Works, Urban Development, Energy, Medical Education, and Forest Departments.
Throw-ball player Chandrakant Harde, Wushu player Bhuraksha Dubey, shooting player Pragati Dubey, Kho-Kho player Nancy Jain, Malkhamb player Rajveer Singh and judo player Poonam Sharma were given appointment letters in the Water Resources Department.
Para-canoe player Prachi Yadav and karate player Nidhi Nanhet were given appointment letters in the Public Works Department, soft ball players Pooja Parkhe, Ragini Chauhan and yoga expert Sushri Rohit Vajpayee were given appointment letters in the Urban Development and Housing Department.
Soft tennis player Jai Meena and adventure sports player Bhagwan Singh Kushwaha have been given appointment letters for the post of Energy Department, Kabaddi player Kanchan Jyoti, soft ball player Subodh Chaurasia and soft tennis player Aditya Dubey have been given letters for medical education, shooting player Chinki Yadav in Forest department and Aadhya Tiwari was handed over the appointment letter for the post in the Income Tax Department.
Minister Sarang said that it cannot be said to what level a player who enters the field will reach, but, certainly, every player who joins sports will become a civilized and disciplined citizen.
He said that Prime Minister Modi is the first person who has worked to give concrete shape to Gandhiji’s message of cleanliness.
On this occasion, a short film focusing on the cleanliness fortnight run across the state starting from Prime Minister Modi’s birthday on 17th September to Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd October was also screened.
