Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said it is necessary to start skill-based courses at high school and higher secondary level to retain students in schools and maintain a high level of gross enrollment ratio.

According to the provisions of the National Education Policy, students of this level should be linked to readymade garments, horticulture, agriculture-based skills and vocational courses as per the need of the area.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was addressing the review meeting of the proposed action plan to boost the gross enrollment ratio in educational institutions.

Chief Secretary Veera Rana, Principal Secretary School Education Rashmi Arun Shami, Principal Secretary Higher Education Sanjay Goyal, Principal Secretary Tribal Affairs Department Dr. E. Ramesh Kumar and other officers were present in the meeting held in the Mantralaya.

Scholarship disbursal must be prompt with no delays

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav emphasized the need to enhance the gross enrollment ratio by collaborating with district-level officials and teachers to devise an action plan.

He suggested engaging hostel wardens in tribal districts in teaching roles and developing an administrative cadre to manage hostel operations.

Dr. Yadav also mentioned considering arrangements for students from all categories to reside together in hostels in the future.

He instructed that scholarship disbursements to students must be prompt without any delays under any circumstances.

Schools should conduct activities in collaboration with Education Department, Tourism-Culture-Archaeology-MPCOST

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that to increase students’ interest in studies, it is necessary to conduct activities like dialogue programmes, science fairs, science trips and come-learn-know at the school level.

Conduct these activities in collaboration with School Education Department, MPCOST, Culture, Archaeology, Tourism departments.

Courses like forensic science-pilot training-physical education should be started

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that subjects like agriculture and forensic science should be started at the college level in more and more institutions of the state.

Regional farmers and their farms should also be linked to the study of agricultural science at the graduate level for practical experience.

In the districts where there are airstrips, pilot training can also be started in co-ordination with universities and pilot training institutes.

Employment oriented courses related to paramedical should also be conducted by universities and physical education and sports activities should be included in the courses.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that educational institutions should organise convocation ceremonies, annual festivals, trips within the state and outside the state and dialogue programmes with subject experts.

It is necessary to assess and upgrade polytechnic and engineering colleges

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav directed to evaluate the state’s polytechnic institutions through grading and undertaking meaningful efforts for their enhancement. He advocated for the introduction of courses aligned with current demands alongside traditional ones.

Dr. Yadav stressed the importance of ensuring provisions for study, research, and training in state engineering colleges to address future demands and challenges.

Additionally, coordinated efforts should be made to transition engineering colleges into deemed universities, fostering their self-reliance through their autonomous nature.

.Drinking water conservation campaign will run from 5th to 15th June

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that drinking water conservation campaign will be run in the state from June 5 to 15, under which activities will be conducted for cleanliness and hygiene of drinking water sources.

With the aim of developing a sense of social responsibility, students of all the educational institutions of the state should be involved in these activities.
