The Madhya Pradesh High Court has directed the respondents to decide the application filed by a tribal woman seeking compensation over death of her husband due to snake bite.

The husband of the petitioner had died on 19.5.2023 due to snake bite.

The petitioner made an application on 12.3.2024 for grant of compensation under Mukhyamantri
Jan Kalyan (Sambal 2.0) Yojna but the same has not been decided so far.

In view of on-going Lok Sabha elections, the authorities must be busy in discharging their election duties, the court observed.
Furthermore, petitioner had lost her husband on 19.5.2023 and the application was filed after 10 months i.e. on 12.3.2024, therefore, for the time being, it cannot be held that the authorities are at fault, the court further observed.

However, this petition is disposed of with a direction that application shall be disposed of as early as possible without any further delay, the court order said.

Further the court observed ‘Needless to mention that by giving such a direction, this Court has not
directed to allow the application and the application shall be decided strictly in accordance with law without getting influenced or prejudiced by this order’.
