The Madhya Pradesh High Court has imposed cost of Rs.25000 on the National Insurance Co.Ltd. for no counsel appeared for the insurance company during final hearing of a petition on May 16, 2024.

The court directed the respondent insurance company to recover the cost from the erring official.

The court on May 7, 2024 fixed the plea of petitioner dismissed from services by the respondent insurance company on May 16, 2024 for final hearing at 2.15 pm but no counsel appeared for the respondent insurance company.

The court was hearing a case related to a woman petitioner Praveen Prakash dismissed from services by the National Insurance Co.Ltd in year 2017.

The petitioner was posted in the Bhopal Division no. 1 office of the National Insurance Co.Ltd. challenged her removal from the services.

The court directed to pay Rs.5000 to the petitioner counsel Rajesh Nema and Rs. 20000 to be deposited in the High Court Legal Services Committee.

The cost be recovered from the erring official, the court order said.

It is made clear that if the respondents fail to appear and cooperate, then this court shall proceed ex parte against them, the court order said.
