Ujjain will be having a world class research centre in future technologies with support from IIT Indore. Deep-Tech Research and Discovery Campus (DRDC) of IIT Indore will come up at Ujjain.
A detailed presentation was given to the chief minister Dr Mohan Yadavat Ujjain today.
Proposed Cost of the Project is Rs. 474 Crores towards the development of the infrastructure in the new campus at Ujjain.
The proposed Deep-Tech Research and Discovery Campus will support
conglomerate of Deep-Tech Research laboratories, Discovery Centre for realising new dimensions of research through translation and its application through Lab-to-market Centre involving start-up culture and entrepreneurship.
IIT Indore endeavours to establish a leadership in the advanced domains.
Deep-Tech Research.
The Deep-Tech Research and Discovery Campus proposes to develop and deliver several high-tech technologies and products through its research and discovery processes leading to entrepreneurial ventures in the deep-tech domain.
It will build a specific infra-structure to house the Deep-Tech Research and Discovery Campus at Ujjain to take the culture of translational research to next level of delivering deep technology
product in the market. The campus will house a Conglomerate of Deep-Tech Research laboratories, Discovery Centre, and Lab-to-Market Centre with the state-of-art
equipment and facilities and necessary buildings to house them. Deep-Tech Research Laboratories will undertake high-end research in the cutting-edge areas and develop new technologies and products for the benefit of industry and society that can be take up further to prototype development and entrepreneurial ventures.
The Discovery Centre will involve hand-holding of the research and augmenting as well as adopting it into useful technologies for the benefit of society.
It would involve the help of scientists, industry experts and technology conversion specialists to lead the translational research.
The centre activities would involve high-end simulations, packaging, integration of sensors, IoT and semiconductor devices, and communication technologies and
instrumentation.
The Lab-to-market Centre would involve conversion from lab-scale models to prototypes and to products through up-scaling, integration, testing and field trials.
It will further involve expert advice and participation of commercialisation experts to evolve business plans for incubators leading to venture creation.
To support man-power skilling in the high-tech areas by conducting massive online as well as hybrid programs.
Some of the courses that are being planned include bio-medical device development, industrial laser and optics technology and so on
Deep-Tech Research Laboratories
