The Special court (dacoity cases) has rejected the bail applications of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Gwalior unit secretary Himanshu Shrotriya and deputy secretary Sukrit Sharma facing charge of dacoity.

Shrotriya and Sharma were arrested and charged under MP Dakaiti Aur Vyapharan Prabhavit Kshetra Adhiniyam after they snatched the key of the car from its driver outside the Gwalior railway station and took an ailing man to hospital.

While rejecting the bail to the duo the court observed they might have sought help politely and not by force.

Meanwhile Former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has written a letter to Madhya Pradesh High Court Chief Justice Ravi Malimath demanding to pardon the students reportedly alleged forcibly snatched the keys from the driver of the official vehicle of a judge of the High Court in Gwalior.

Chouhan in a letter stated an incident has come to my notice through newspapers that a case has been registered against students for a crime committed with the sacred aim of saving the life of the Vice Chancellor of a private university.

I have written a letter in this regard to the Chief Justice of the Honorable High Court requesting him to pardon the students and withdraw the case, Chouhan said on X.

I am confident that the High Court will grant pardon to the students on the basis of human values, keeping in mind the future of the students, Chouhan said.

As the man’s health condition was deteriorating, the ABVP activists rushed him to a hospital in a car parked outside the station but the man reportedly died.
