Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the newly established Gwalior-Sumavali rail route in a grand programme organised at the Mela Maidan.
He flagged off the MEMU train from Gwalior railway station to Sumawali.
From Birla Nagar Railway Station, Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar boarded the MEMU train and reached Sumawali Railway Station along with common passengers and public representatives.
The local residents welcomed the MEMU train with joy and enthusiasm at Birla Nagar, Rairu, Bamor village and Ambakeshwar station situated between Gwalior-Sumavali railway line. MEMU train will operate daily as per schedule from October 3. This train will take three trips on the day of Sumavali.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister Tomar, Shri Virendra Kumar and Jyotiraditya Scindia, state government ministers and General Manager North Central Railway Satish Kumar and Divisional Railways Manager Deepak Kumar Sinha and other officers were also present on the occasion at the Mela Maidan programme.
