Committed to ensuring welfare of workers in organized and unorganized sectors, Madhya Pradesh is implementing the highest number of social protection schemes. The state is running 22 unique social security schemes benefitting their families at every stage. In order give benefits under these schemes, a dedicated portal has been put into operation.

Under the Chief Minister’s Jan Kalyan (Sambal) Yojana, a total of 5.25 lakh workers have received financial assistance worth Rs. 4917 crore over the past two and a half decades. So far, 1 crore 61 lakh workers have registered themselves.

In the hard times of Covid, the workers’ families got a lot of relief from these schemes. The Chief Minister gave assistance of Rs.1000 per to every worker.

The state is pro-actively implementing a wide range of schemes for workers under the guidance of the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Prominent among them include assistance for disability – both permanent and partial, educational scholarships under the Madhya Pradesh Labour Welfare Board, education award schemes, distribution of notebooks at subsidized prices, assistance for marriages of daughters, assistance to widows, Mukhyamantri Jan Kalyan Prasooti Sajayata Yojana, Super-5000 scheme for class 10 and 12, grants for buying bicycles and tools, and assistance to the differently-abled workers.

In the financial year 2022-23, various schemes of the State Labour Welfare Board, 6646 workers have got financial assistance worth Rs. 430.67 crore. In the current financial year, 2043 workers have already received Rs. 141.18 crore under various schemes. Since the inception of these schemes, 5 lakh 86 thousand workers have received Rs. 35 crore 77 lakh.

The Madhya Pradesh Slate Pencil Workers Welfare Board has provided assistance to 17,274 slate pencil workers Rs. 8 crore 55 lakh from 2008-09 to 2022-23. Assistance is also being provided to all workers registered under the Madhya Pradesh Building and Construction Workers Welfare Board. In the financial year, 2022-23, as many as 34,500 construction workers received benefits worth Rs. 275 crore. These schemes have ensured benefits worth Rs. 2592 crore to 40 lakh 17 thousand beneficiaries so far.

Ensuring strict implementation of labour laws, seeking workers’ consent for overtime has been made mandatory. Management of factories, has been asked to ensure payment of dues of workers within specified time limits.

Regular health check-ups are being conducted for workers. Recently, 7,000 workers were examined through 35 health check-up camps.

A sum of RS. 178 crore has been provided in 27 thousand cases under a number of schemes mainly Kanya Vivah , Educational Assistance, Super-5000 for Class 10, and Class 12, Housing, Bicycle Grants, Equipment Purchase , Assistance to Differently-abled, Shelter, Incentives for sports persons and Sheds for Construction Workers.

From 2008 to 2022-23, 33.73 crore rupees in assistance were provided to 5 lakh 83 thousand laborers for educational scholarships, educational incentives, marriage assistance, subsidies on copier prices, Kalyani assistance, the Best Worker, and Labor Literature Award schemes.

In unorganized sector, 20 lakh registrations have been done with Unorganized Worker Welfare Board Sambal. Over Rs. 2510 crore assistance have been provided to more than 45 lakh workers. The construction of Shramodaya Vidyalayas for quality education of children of workers is progressing rapidly at Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur, and Gwalior.
