On the occasion of Amrit Mahotsav of Independence, Asia’s biggest international literature festival UNMESHA came to a spectacular end with a pledge to take literature to the masses, create and preserve literature.

There was discussions on the cultural heritage of India, feminism literature and the value of literature, epics of India, gentle power of India, role of books in freedom movement and publication in Indian languages along with Adivasi Kavi Sammelan on the last day.

SL Bhairappa, Surjit Patar, Vishwas Patil, Prayag Shukla, K. Shiva Reddy, Alok Bhalla, Vasant Nirgune, Ramesh Arya, Madan Mohan Soren and Mahadev Toppo etc. expressed their views.

Equal approach is necessary for women – Namita Gokhale

Presiding over an important session on feminism and literature, eminent writer and publisher Namita Gokhale said that true feminism means having equal vision for all. Referring to the literature written by women since ancient times, he said that the tradition of writing continues even today.

Underlining the usefulness of women’s literature, speaker C Mrinalini said that this literature has opened new doors of women’s freedom.

Leena Chandorkar said that the day a woman will be able to take important decisions related to her life on her own, only then she will be free.

Preeti Shenoy stressed on equal pay and economic equality for women.

Sonor Jha said that we have to start economic equality from our homes only.
