Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that providing facilities and arrangements in the state for research, designing, manufacturing, testing etc. in the electronics and semi-conductor sector at the global level is necessary for the industrial progress of the state.

The electronic sector is playing a vital role in Economic Development- technological innovation and improving the overall quality of life, he said. In order to attract investment in the state and provide opportunities to the youth in this sector, a definite roadmap should be prepared and the implementation of the activities should be ensured within the time limit, Chouhan said.

Chief Minister Chouhan was addressing the meeting of Electronics and Semi-conductor Task Force.

In the meeting at the residence office, Chief Minister Chouhan also released the report on ‘Strategy for Boosting Electronic System Design Manufacturing Sector in Madhya Pradesh’ presented by the task force.

Proposal to set up Center for Excellence for designing of electronic products

In the meeting, discussions were held on the establishment of Center for Excellence in the state for designing electronic products, attracting investment from private industrial houses, setting up arrangements for assured purchase of electronic products manufactured in the state, development of research culture in educational institutions and better coordination between the state government and industries. All the Task Force members were present in the meeting.

The Task Force on Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) was constituted in September 2022 under the chairmanship of Professor Sachin Chaturvedi, Vice Chairman of Madhya Pradesh State Policy Commission. The force includes former Vice Chairman of Samsung Deepak Bhardwaj, Ambrish Kela of Scientech Technology, Amit Kharbanda, CEO of MI BOX, I.I.T. Professor Santosh Vishwakarma of Indore, Harish Wadhwa of EPIC India, Vinod Sharma of Deki Electronics.

The Task Force was entrusted with the task of preparing a comprehensive strategy for the overall development of the ESDM sector in the State.

Comprehensive policy will be made for electronic manufacturing

Based on the report submitted by the task force, a comprehensive policy for electronics manufacturing will be formulated which is expected to attract investment of around $10 billion.

Based on the report, ‘plug and play’ model will be used for electronic manufacturing eliminating the complexities of land acquisition. This model is being used successfully in Singapore.

The implementation of this report will accelerate the expansion of investment and activities in the electronics manufacturing sector in the state.
