Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan called a special meeting of senior police officers at Samatva Bhawan CM residence today and gave instructions after receiving information about the suicide of a family who had availed online loans in the capital.
CM Chouhan said that in view of this unfortunate incident, there is a need for strict control over cyber crimes. We cannot see families getting destroyed like this. Such incidents should be stopped by using technology and the culprits should be punished. A campaign on large-scale should be launched to save people from cyber crime.
Chief Minister Chouhan today gave detailed instructions in this regard to Director General of Police Shri Sudhir Kumar Saxena, Police Commissioner Bhopal Shri Harinarayan Chari Mishra and other officers. Additional Chief Secretary Home Dr Rajesh Rajoura, ADG Shri Adarsh Katiyar and other officers were present.
Chief MinisterChouhan said that necessarily public awareness is needed so that such incidents do not happen. For this, a separate action plan should be prepared and implemented. People offering online loans to the public should be monitored. Those who operate the app through which these crimes are committed should be nabbed. If the local people are not involved in these and such illegal activities are being conducted from other places of the country or abroad, then teams should also be sent to reach to them. Everyone should be aware against the people who cheat others by giving them the lure of offering money. A comprehensive campaign should also be conducted by the police in this regard. Chief Minister Chouhan said that prompt action should be taken on the complaints received before the person trapped in the vicious cycle of debt commits suicide. Awareness campaign should be run on a large scale. There should also be lectures in this regard especially in schools and colleges so that students avoid the temptation of getting loans online.
Police officers told that the Government of India has banned about 90 apps. Sachet portal is also working. No app which works to provide loans to people is authorized by the Reserve Bank. The incident that took place in Bhopal is being seriously investigated.
