Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has extended his best wishes and congratulated all the players of the Indian women’s junior hockey team on their historic victory in the Asia Cup 2023 tournament.
Yesterday was the concluding day of the tournament. The Indian women’s junior hockey team created history by defeating four-time champions South Korea 2-1 in Kakamigahara, Japan.
South Korea has been regarded as the most successful team in the history of the tournament. This time India’s women hockey players have proved their excellence. Prior to this, the year 2012 saw India’s best ever performance at the Women’s Junior Hockey Asia Cup in Bangkok, reaching the final. But then India had to be content as runners-up.
Chouhan said that the whole country is proud of this achievement of daughters. In Madhya Pradesh too, work has been done to encourage women players through various sports academies.
Chouhan wished that all the players continue to bring laurels to the country.
