In the presence of Minister of State for School Education (Independent Charge) Inder Singh Parmar and Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia, the 66th National School Sports Competition will be inaugurated at 6 pm on June 7 at TT Nagar Stadium in Bhopal.
General Secretary of School Games Federation of India Amarjit Sharma and Vice President Mukhtej Singh Badesha will also be present.
Commissioner Public Instruction Anubha Srivastava told that the competition will be held from June 6 to 13 in Bhopal and Gwalior districts of the state including Delhi. There will be 14 sporting events in Delhi, 4 in Bhopal and 2 in Gwalior. Around 1750 participating players will participate in the athletics and boxing competition in Bhopal from June 6 to 9. About 1100 participating players will participate in the hockey and badminton competition from June 8 to 12 in Gwalior. About 2376 participating players will participate in football, volleyball, judo and table tennis from June 10 to 13 in Bhopal.
It is noteworthy that the National School Sports Competitions are being organized by the School Games Federation of India after about 3 years due to the Covid crisis. The competition is being organized by the Madhya Pradesh Government School Education Department in collaboration with the Sports and Youth Welfare Department. Players from different states, union territories and allied units will participate in this.
Srivastava said that the selected participants in national school sports competitions get the opportunity to participate in school sports competitions at the international level with the help of the Union Sports Ministry. Students studying in various government and non-government schools of the country get an opportunity to participate in the competition at the national level by participating in their respective states.
School Games Federation of India is the only apex organization recognized by the Union Sports Ministry for organizing, promoting and promoting school sports in the country. All the states, union territories and some national level educational units of the country are affiliated with the School Games Federation of India. School sports competitions are organized in 3 age groups across the country in collaboration with affiliated units by the Federation.
