The CBI Special Court, Ernakulam (Kerala) sentenced P.R. Vijayan, former Deputy Commissioner at the Air Cargo Complex, Calicut Airport, his wife Vasantha and daughters Dhanya, Divya & Navya to undergo two years rigorous imprisonment with total fine of Rs. 2.5 crore.
The CBI had registered a case on 27.09.2006 against the accused on the allegations that P.R. Vijayan while working as Dy. Commissioner at Air Cargo Complex, Calicut Airport & also holding additional charge of Dy. Commissioner Air Customs, Calicut Airport had amassed assets in his name and in the name of his family members including wife, 3 daughters, disproportionate to his known sources of income during the period from July 2003 to July 2005 to the tune of Rs. 79,93,859.
After investigation, a chargesheet was filed on 30.06.2008 against the accused.
The Trial Court found said accused guilty and convicted them. Two accused were acquitted by the Court.
