Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that Maharana Pratap is a symbol of country’s valour. Veer Shiromani Maharana Pratap Lok will be constructed in Bhopal. It will be a tribute to his sacrifice, penance, struggle and gallantry. The life and works of Maharana Pratap will be depicted in the memorial. Along with this, the contribution of his seven associates Bhamashah, Punjabhil, Chetak and others will also be pictorially depicted. The construction of Maharana Pratap Lok will be meaningful so that the future generations can be aware of Maharana Pratap’s struggle to protect his culture and freedom and his ability to stick to the values of life and imbibe the values accordingly. Stories of bravery and valour of Maharana Pratap will be taught in school curriculum in the state. Along with this, Maharana Pratap Welfare Board will also be constituted. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan was addressing the Maharana Pratap Jayanti celebrations at Lal Parade Ground.

Chouhan inaugurated the Jayanti celebrations by garlanding and lighting lamps on the pictures of Maharana Pratap, Maharaj Chhatrasal and Maharani Padmavati. Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar, Maharana Pratap’s descendant Maharaj Kumar Dr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar, state ministers, public representatives, senior citizens and office bearers of social organisations were present. Chouhan welcomed Dr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar by presenting him with a sword and Ram Darbar. Chouhan was greeted by Dr. Mewar by presenting him the soil of Haldi Ghati. The senior people of the society and the office bearers of social organisations were honoured by tying a turban and a sword were presented as a symbol of the ceremony.

Chouhan said that the personality and work of Maharana Pratap inspires all of us. We also get inspiration from Maharana Pratap to serve all the sections of the society with honesty and truthfulness and to take the state forward on the path of progress and development. Maharana Pratap is also a symbol of building a glorious, magnificent nation along with valour, self-respect and independence. A glorious, magnificent, prosperous, flourishing and powerful India is being built under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. India’s respect has increased among the rich and powerful countries of the world.
Holiday on the birth anniversary of brave personalities is just an attempt to repay their debt
While saluting Maharaj Chhatrasal Bundela, Chouhan said that there was a belief about him that “Chatta tore raj mein, dhak-dhak dharti hoye-jit-jit ghoda mukh kare, tit-tit fateh hoye”. This is the land of the brave hearts. Giving holiday on the birth anniversaries of such brave men is just an attempt to repay their debt. Recalling the commitment of Maharana Pratap to protect the motherland, he said that it is my vow that those who are against the country and state will not be spared. It is our religion to eliminate terrorists.
Chief Minister was overwhelmed by getting the soil of Haldi Ghati as a gift
Overwhelmed by the gift of soil from Haldi Ghati by Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar, a descendant of Maharana Pratap, Chouhan said that this is an invaluable treasure of his life. Nothing is holier than the soil of the Haldi Ghati, it is a symbol of courage and valour of India. I will never let go the honour and glory of this soil. This soil will always remind of the bravery of Maharana Pratap and will continue to inspire to work in the right direction.
Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that Chief Minister Chouhan has done a historic work by establishing Maharana Pratap’s birth anniversary as holiday and statue of Queen Padmavati in Bhopal. CM Chouhan has ensured the implementation of most of his announcements, which is his big achievement.
CM Chouhan is reviving Indian culture
Dr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar said that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is reviving Indian culture in Madhya Pradesh. He is developing the state by following the ideals of Maharana Pratap ji. Declaring Maharana Pratap’s birth anniversary as a public holiday in the state, he has given a message that we all should remember him and bless our lives by getting inspiration from his bravery, sacrifice, patriotism and values of life.

Maharana Pratap (9 May 1540–19 January 1597)
Maharana Pratap Singh Sisodia was born on Jyeshtha Shukla Tritiya Sunday Vikram Samvat 1597 accordingly on 9th May 1540 at Kumbhalgarh in Rajasthan to Maharana Uday Singh and Mata Rani Jaywantabai. He was the grandson of Mahavir Rana Sanga. He is immortal in history for his bravery, valour, sacrifice, gallantry and determination. He did not accept the submission of Mughal Emperor Akbar and fought for many years, Akbar finally failed to subdue Maharana Pratap. Maharana Pratap’s policies became a source of inspiration for everyone from Shivaji Maharaj to freedom fighters. The horse that Maharana used to sit on was Chetak, one of the best horses in the world. Maharana used to wear 72 kg armour and keep 81 kg spear in his hand. He used to fight in the battle by lifting a total weight of 208 kg including the weight of shield and sword including spear and armour.
On Wednesday, 30 May 1576, a fierce battle broke out between the huge Mughalia army and the Ranbankuri Mewari army in the field of Haldi Ghati. In the war, Maharana faced the enemies bravely, but the Rajput army could not stand in front of Akbar’s huge army and Rana Pratap had to take refuge in the jungle, but he did not accept Akbar’s slavery. Except Chittor, the Maharana recaptured all his forts from the enemy. Apart from Chittorgarh and Mandalgarh, Maharana re-established his kingdom on entire Mewar. He made Udaipur his capital. After this, the Mughals challenged the Maharana many times but the Mughals had to face defeat. Eventually, Maharana Pratap passed away at Chanwad on 29 January 1597 due to injuries sustained during battle and hunting.
Maharaja Chhatrasal
Medieval Rajput warrior Maharaja Chhatrasal Bundela (4 May 1649-20 December 1731) was a great warrior of the medieval period of India. He established his independent Hindu state in Bundelkhand by defeating the Mughal ruler Aurangzeb in the war and received the title of ‘Maharaja’. Maharaja Chhatrasal was born in a Rajput family and was a descendant of Rudra Pratap Singh of Orchha. He was a great hero, organiser, skilled and majestic king of his time. His life was spent fighting against the power of the Mughals and fighting to establish the independence of Bundelkhand. He kept on fighting for his motherland till the last moment of his life.
