PM Mitra Park at a glance
The Union Ministry of Textiles has approved 7 PM Mitra Parks in 7 states of the country. These include a PM Mitra Park in Madhya Pradesh as well. Here the work of making yarn from cotton, making clothes from yarn and selling and exporting finished clothes will be condected at one place. These mega parks are being developed to realise Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s 5F vision (Farm to, Fiber to, Factory to, Fashion to, Foreign).
After approval of Madhya Pradesh’s proposal, village Bhainsola of Dhar district of Indore division was finally selected considering it most favourable for PM Mitra Textile Park. This park will be developed on about 1563 acres of land. The land of the park is under the possession of MPIDC. For the development of the park, the Central government has decided to give Rs. 500 crore in two phases. Along with this, the Central Government has decided to provide 3 percent of the turnover to the units investing more than Rs.100 crore. All the benefits available in the industry promotion policy of Madhya Pradesh will be made available in the park. An SPV will be formed between the Centre and Madhya Pradesh government for the park, in which the state government will have 51 percent stake and the Central government will have 49 percent. 19 units have expressed interest to invest in Textile Park. An amount of more than Rs 6 thousand crore is proposed to be invested by them. About 2 lakh jobs will be generated directly and indirectly in this. The biggest feature of the textile and garmenting sector is that there are plenty of employment opportunities for uneducated and unskilled people. More than 90 percent of these are women. Due to this, the Textile Park will be very important from the point of view of women empowerment.
The Madhya Pradesh government has constantly laid emphasis on the establishment of such industries, in which employment opportunities are more than other industries. As a result, an encouraging atmosphere has been created regarding Madhya Pradesh in the textile and garment industry of the country. In the Global Investors Summit held in Indore in the month of January, a large number of investors had expressed interest in textile industries.
