Minister of State for AYUSH (Independent Charge) Ramkishore Kawre has said that Ayurveda is an ancient method of Indian traditional medicine. Today, along with the treatment of diseases through this method, it is necessary to make the general public aware of a healthy lifestyle.
Minister of State Kawre was addressing a workshop on the topic “National Education Policy-2020 and Ayurveda” at Pt. Khushilal Sharma Government Ayurveda Institute, Bhopal on Tuesday.
Minister of State Kawre said that many important works have been done for the development of Ayurveda in the state in the last few years. The importance of Ayurveda at the global level has been proved during the Corona period.
Through the new education policy, we need to continuously undertake new research in the field of Ayurveda, moving away from traditional treatment. Madhya Pradesh is counted as a prosperous state in terms of forest area. Many medicines are found in the forests.
Referring to the recently launched Devaranya Yojana in the state, Minister of State Kawre said that this will encourage farmers to cultivate medicinal plants. This scheme will prove important for boosting the income of the farmers.
He asked the youth taking admission in the field of Ayurveda to pay special attention to new researches.
NCISM New Delhi Chairman Vaidya Jayant Devpujari said in his address that a special provision has been made for the development of Ayurveda in the new education policy. For the students coming in this field, their foundation will be strengthened at the school itself.
Apart from treatment in Ayurveda, efforts will be made to increase employment opportunities through other methods. He told the studying students the need to work in Ayurveda with new self-confidence.
Dr. Ashok Kumar Varshney, Advisor, Union Ministry of AYUSH, said that many texts of Ayurveda are in Sanskrit, for this it is necessary for students to have knowledge of Sanskrit language. He talked about strengthening the faith among the general public towards Ayurveda.
Dr. Varshney emphasised on continuously setting up of Ayurveda medical camps in rural areas along with urban areas.
He asked the students to work for the development of Ayurveda as a mission.
The workshop was also addressed by National Institute Jaipur Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Sharma, Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Science New Delhi Director General Prof. Rabinarayan Acharya. At the beginning of the workshop, Dr. Umesh Shukla, Principal, Ayurveda Institute, Bhopal gave information about the activities of the institute and the recently started Panchkarma Super Specialty Hospital.
Professor Dr. Nitin Marwah of Bhopal Ayurveda Institute proposed vote of thanks. Topic-wise discussions were also held in different sessions regarding the implementation of the new education policy in the workshop.
