The Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission (MPHRC) has taken cognizance on an information about the residents of Laxminagar of ward no.1 of Indore municipal area have to purchase water from the private borewells as the water supply river Narmada from the pipeline laid down in the ward is yet to start.
MPHRC chairman Manohar Mamtani took cognizance over the information in these matters and sought reply from the concerned officers.
The residents of Laxminagar of Ward No. 1 of Indore city are worried about the water problem for the last several years.
The Narmada pipeline was also laid in the ward by the Municipal Corporation, but water was not supplied due to some problems.
The situation is such that despite the laying of Narmada line, the residents here have to pay Rs 300 per month to get water from private borewells.
Such a scene is not seen in any other ward, where there are so many problems regarding water. Taking cognizance of the matter, the Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission has sought a response from the Commissioner Municipal Corporation, Indore in three weeks regarding the action taken after investigating the matter.
In another matter, by digging a pit in the drain, the people have to wait for half an hour to get water to fill a single container.
The water crisis has deepened in Anjaniyapani village of Gram Panchayat Ambapani, about 15 km from Barwani district headquarters.
The situation is such that the people of the village are forced to fill water by standing in queue at the pit of the drain.
In half an hour, one container of water get from the pit.
The people of the village told that women wake up from 3 o’clock in the night to fill water from the pit.
The population of the village is around 2600 and there are 1900 voters.
There are seven handpumps in the panchayat area, which dry up during the summer season.
For this reason, the people here bring water from three different places far about three kilometers away from the village.
Taking cognizance of the matter, the Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission has sought a response from the Collector, Barwani, regarding the action taken after investigating the matter in a month.
