Holi is not celebrated in a village situated 55 km away from Bokaro Steel City in Durgapur, Jharkhand. 50 years ago Holi was played by breaking this tradition.
It is believed that after this the village had to face adversity. According to the people of this village, Holi comes with disobedience. With the change of time, the elders of this village say that those who want to play Holi festival can play by visiting their friends, relatives or any other place.
Two assumptions about the Holiness of this festival, Holi are prevalent in this village, it is said that Bhairo Baba performs worship in the temple of Durga Pahari and only white goats and chickens are offered to them. It is believed that on this day, dyed red color is used on this day of celebration of color.
According to another legend, Maghi Mahto of the village told that 175 years ago, the festival of Holi was celebrated with great fame during the reign of the King Durga Prasad of this village, but the king lost his son only during the festival.
After this, the outbreak of natural calamities came to this village, in which diseases such as plague and cholera spread. After that year, King refused to play Holi in this village, and this belief has been practiced till date.
