Naxal Operations Special DG DM Awasthi has informed about the Naxalites’ encounter. A policeman seriously injured in firing from the Maoists. The injured policeman is undergoing treatment.
Sundar Raj told that Chhattisgarh and Telangana police had information about the large Naxalite mobilization in the border area of Uyur police station in Bijapur district. After the information, the Greyhound force of Telangana in the region and the DRG, STF and district forces of Bijapur district were sent to the patrol.
Police officer said that when the priest of Greyhound reached the forest of Kanker village, the Maoists started firing on the police force. After this the police team also responded. After some time firing, the Maoists escaped from there. In this incident, a Greyhound jawan is also injured.
Sundar Raj told that after the closure of the firing, the police team has started a search operation in the area. So far, the bodies of 10 Naxalites have been recovered.
The official said that the killed Maoists are being identified and more information is being taken in this regard. The injured jawan is being pulled out of the jungle.
Bijapur Superintendent of Police Mohit Garg said, “This was a joint operation of Chhattisgarh and Telangana police. According to preliminary information, 10 Maoists were killed in an encounter at around 6.30 in the morning.
If we Recall, in the past few days, the Maoists have attacked many police and security forces in Chhattisgarh. In this way, this action against this Naxalite is being seen as a big success. Two days ago on February 28, the police had arrested nine Maoists in the Naxal-affected Sukma district of the state.
