In the Lok Sabha, Congress leader Mallikarjun Khadane has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and has informed that he will not take part as invitee in the selection committee meeting on the appointment of Lokpal. The Government invited him to participate in the meeting as a special guest in the selection committee meeting today.

In a letter written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Kharge has said that ‘special invitation is an inclusive effort to isolate the voices of the opposition in the selection of Lokpal selection ‘. According to the Lokpal Act, the leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha is a member of the selection committee and Khadge is not the leader of the opposition. He is not part of the committee.

Kharge said in his letter to Modi, “Specially sent invitations are an inclusive effort to oust the voices of the opposition from the most important anti-corruption watchdog’s selection process.

He said, “Without my right to participate, my presence as a special invitee, entering my thoughts and voting would be a pretext that aims to show that the opposition participated in the selection process.

Kharge wrote in the letter, “In order to maintain the purity of the Lokpal Act 2013, in these circumstances, I must reject the invitation of a special invitee, because the current process has limited a tendency method to political presence only.
