The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate for mayoral post Rani Agrawal has won the election in Singrauli Municipal Corporation (Madhya Pradesh), while its candidates took lead in few municipal wards.
Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal came to Singrauli’s for campaign in the civic body election has strengthen the party position led to winning of Rani Agrawal on mayoral post.
According to the party insiders if he (Arvind Kejriwal) would have campaign in few more places the party would have had shown presence in more civic bodies.
The people in the state are aware about development works done by Kejriwal in improving education and health services in Delhi.
AAP candidate Rani Agrawal got 34585 votes, BJP candidate Chandra Pratap Vishwakarma (Chande) got 25233 votes, thus Rani Agrawal defeated BJP candidate by 9352 votes.
The AAP party got second highest votes in few municipal wards of Sihora Nagar Palika Parishad in Jabalpur district where the candidates polled in their favour between 18-31% votes of the total votes polled.
While some candidates of AAP has won corporator post election in certain places in the state.
Generally a large percentage of voters in Madhya Pradesh prefer voting for Bharatiya Janata Party or Congress in any election.
Earlier Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and other parties too have shown their presence in certain pockets of Madhya Pradesh but with passage of time these parties lose their vote bank due to weak political leadership in the state.
In Muslim dominated areas of civic bodies, the All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has marked presence in the civic bodies of Jabalpur and Khandwa by winning corporator posts in two and one municipal wards respectively.
AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi campaign in various places including Jabalpur, Bhopal and Khandwa in the civic bodies polls.
With the two political parties the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) marked their presence in the civic bodies of the state has opened a new option for the people who have seen the rule of both Congress and BJP.
