The Special Judge for CBI cases, New Delhi has today convicted Hryana former chief minister Om Prakash Chautala for possessing disproportionate assets.
A case was registered 03.04.2006 against Chautala & others on the allegations that while functioning as the Chief Minister of Haryana during the period 24.07.1999 to 05.03.2005, in collusion with his family members & others, had accumulated assets, immovable & movable, disproportionate to his known sources of income, in his name and in the names of his family members & others, the official note said.
After investigation, chargesheet was filed on 26.03.2010 against the accused. The extent of Disproportionate Assets was around Rs. 6,09,79,026/- i.e. (189.11%) of his income.
The matter has been posted on 26-05-2022 for quantum of sentence.
