A tribal man worship Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for introducing and executing tribal focused various welfare schemes addressing the genuine problems.
Ramlal Pusam of village Amatitaha in tribal dominated Kundam development block of Jablapur district has high praise for Chouhan.
Worshipping politicians, actors, religious heads and sportsmen is not new in the country and there are various examples in many states where personalities in these fields are treated as gods.
Ramlal has placed a picture of Chouhan in a wall niche of the house.
He starts his daily work after worshipping by bowing with folded hands before the photo of Chouhan.
On asked what prompted him to worship CM Chouhan, he said “I find the welfare policies for tribals was designed by the state government in such a way that addresses genuine problems faced by tribal populace”.
Often it is seen, the tribals does not get the information of welfare schemes timely for they reside in remote places far from district headquarters, he said.
Chouhan is known for simplicity and concern for the poor has taken various initiatives to deliver the information of welfare schemes at their door steps, Ramlal said.
The scheme to give educational scholarship to eligible tribal boys and girls studying in class 11, 12, undergraduate courses, doctorate courses and professional courses supports financially to boys and girls to take higher studies, he said.
Another scheme for tribal students is too financially supportive where the tribal students studying in colleges, universities and other institutions of higher learning does not get room in the hostels are eligible for lodging assistance as they have to stay in private accommodation, he said.
The government gives scholarship to the tribal students who are interested to go for higher studies abroad, he said.
The state government also pays attention on health facilities, on house and toilet constructions is gradually improving the standard of living of tribals, he said.
Amatitaha village is 80 kilometers far from Jabalpur district headquarters. Ramlal works as gram sachiv (village secretary) is posted in the Jabalpur Janpad office.
