Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said the state government will whole-heartedly welcome those people of Chhattisgarh who migrated to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh during Salwa Judum if they want to return.
The people from Chattissgarh’s Bastar, Sukma, Bijapur, Dantewada were displaced due to Salwa Judum and they have to migrate to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states.
He said the state government will chalk out an action plan to create a conducive environment for their rehabilitation. Baghel said during his interaction with the delegation of migrated people from Telangana state meet at his office residence.
The members of delegation are amongst those who migrated from Sukma, Bijapur and Dantewada districts of Chattissgarh to Telangana during the Salwa Judum.
State Industries Minister Kawasi Lakhma, Chattissgarh State Scheduled Tribes Commission Chairman Bhanupratap Singh were also present on the occasion.
The delegation appeal the chief minister for providing suitable place for rehabilitation of the people willing to return from these states.
The members further asked for providing them land for agriculture too.
In response to their request, the Chief Minister said that the people who desire to come back to Chattissgarh will be provided all kinds of basic facilities including ration shop, school, employment, along with the land.
Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department Subrat Sahu and Director General of Police Ashok Juneja were also present in the meeting.
Salwa Judum was an anti-naxal operation powered by certain groups was started in 2005-06 in Bastar and the same was disbanded by the Supreme Court over allegations of human rights violations in year 2011.
Several tribals fled due to the violence rising out of the movement. Many of them moved to the government relief camps while others settled in neighbouring states including Telegana and Andhra Pradesh.
