S Jaishankar, the Minister of External Affairs, will travel to Denmark on Saturday, September 4, as part of a four-day trip to Central Europe. On the first two days of his visit (September 2 and 3), Jaishankar visited the Balkan nations of Slovenia and Croatia, holding bilateral talks with their leaders and promoting India’s interests in the European Union (EU).
Jaishankar will be in Denmark on Saturday and Sunday, the third and fourth days of his visit, for a meeting with his Danish counterpart.
According to a statement released by the Union ministry of external affairs, Jaishankar’s four-day visit to central Europe is intended to provide an opportunity for reviewing progress in bilateral ties with these three Central European nations. The minister will try to strengthen India’s “multifaceted relationship” with the European Union during his visits, according to the statement.
When he arrives in Denmark, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will co-chair the fourth round of the Indo-Danish joint commission meeting, which will examine bilateral cooperation under the Green Strategic Partnership, which was established during the virtual summit in September last year.
Jaishankar met with foreign ministers from EU member states in an informal meeting in Slovenia on Thursday. He then met with his counterparts to discuss issues of “mutual interests,” a topic that is particularly relevant given Slovenia’s current rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union. He also took part in a panel discussion on “Partnership for a Rules-Based Order in the Indo-Pacific” at the annual Bled Strategic Forum (BSF) in Slovenia.
In Croatia, Jaishankar held talks with his counterpart, Gordan Grlić Radman, on issues that concern India’s relationship with the Balkan nation and other regional and global issues.
