Mr. Vijay Rupani, Gujarat’s chief minister, announced the Gujarat EV Policy 2021 during a live news conference. CM Rupani emphasized the new EV Policy’s environmental benefits. He stated that the use of electric vehicles (EVs) will expand in the state. To have nearly 2 lakh EVs on the roads in the next four years.

To encourage new companies and investors in the field of electric transportation, the CM declared plans to make Gujarat a hub for manufacturing EVs and numerous associated materials. With one of the best infrastructural availability in the country, the state already has a head start.

According to the new policy, the state will provide EVs with double the amount of per-kilowatt subsidies as any other state during four years.
Gujarat would give electric two-wheelers a discount of up to Rs 20,000, three-wheelers a subsidy of up to Rs 50,000, and four-wheelers a subsidy of up to Rs 1.5 lakh.

In addition, the subsidy amount will be instantly reimbursed to bank accounts via Direct Bank Transfer (DBT). Currently, the state has roughly 278 electric vehicle charging points. CM has announced the building of 250 more EV charging stations as part of the new strategy.

Under the new EV Policy, he has also provided a 25% capital subsidy for charging stations, with a limit of Rs. 10 lakh. Establishing/installing EV charging stations will be permitted at gas stations, as well as in housing and business facilities.

The Gujarat government will encourage and provide subsidies for electric vehicle purchases, and the registration price for electric vehicles will be waived for the next four years under the new EV policy.
