When Microsoft released Windows 10, it stated that it would be the final version of the operating system. However, the company’s recent teaser revealed that Windows 11 will be released by the end of the month.
It has announced a new event for June 24 on its website.
The company will emphasize everything that is coming ‘next for Windows’ at the event. Microsoft has revealed that support for Windows 10 will be pulled out in 2025.
According to the company’s latest Windows lifecycle information sheet, support for Windows 10 Home, Pro, Pro for Workstations, and Pro Education will be taken down on October 14, 2025. This means that after that date, the tech behemoth will stop releasing updates and security patches.
“We’ll soon deliver one of the most significant upgrades to Windows in the last decade, allowing developers and creators to earn more money.
I’ve been hosting it myself for a few months now, and I’m excited about the next generation of Windows,” Nadella remarked.
Windows 11 is expected to include a significant UI redesign. Microsoft’s official Twitter account confirmed the news. Satya Nadella, Microsoft’s CEO, revealed during the company’s Build 2021 event that the next-generation Windows upgrade will be the most significant in the last decade.
In terms of Windows 10 retirement, it appears that the current Windows version will last longer than 2025, as many individuals took their time upgrading from Windows 7. Microsoft is likely to give people more time to transition to the new operating system.
The release of Windows 8, the next version of the operating system, is eagerly awaited. Windows is the most popular operating system for personal computers, but it is in desperate need of an upgrade.
Internally, the company is working on the major Windows 10 user interface upgrade known as “Sun Valley.”
Last month, Microsoft released a fresh Windows 10 version with minimal adjustments. On June 24, Microsoft’s huge Windows event will be streamed live for consumers beginning at 11 a.m. ET (about 8:30 p.m. IST). The event will feature both Satya Nadella and Panos Panay, Microsoft’s Chief Product Officer.
