India’s coronavirus disease caseload (Covid-19) rose to 29,359,155 on Saturday, according with the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, 84,332 new infections logged in the final 24 hours. This is the first time that the daily cases have fallen below 90,000 marks in over two months. 91,702 cases of Covid-19 were registered throughout the country on Friday.
Saturday, about 4,02 were killed and the number of recoveries reached 367,081 and 27,911,384 respectively, and 121,311 recovered. The active cases have fallen to 1.080.690 and represent 3.83% of the caseload.
Since the overall figure Covid-19 has fallen since last month, which indicates that the country can gain control of the pandemic’s current second wave, the Health Minister urged people to continue following the appropriate behaviour in Covid on Friday.
“We must include Covid’s proper conduct in our lives. Although the cases are down, we must make sure that the infection does not spread,” said Joint Secretary Lav Agarwal of the Ministry of Health, speaking on Friday in a routine Covid-19 briefing.
He added that the daily infections decreased by nearly 78 percent and that the weekly positive rate was down 74 percent.
During Friday’s briefing, NITI Aayog VK Paul said that its fourth National Sero-Survey Round will start this month in order for the ICMR to evaluate the viral disease’s spread in the country. He said that no one can depend on a national survey and that it can be carried out by the States and territories of the Union.
This month, under the serosurvey, 70 districts in 21 states are covered. ICMR Director General Dr Balram Bhargava said in a letter of June 4 to those states including Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh that this survey will also cover children six years of age and above.
