Sachin Pilot arrived in Delhi on Friday and will be there through Sunday. During his visit, however, the senior Congressman stated that he had no intentions to meet with former party chairman Rahul Gandhi or his sister Priyanka Gandhi. The statement comes after senior BJP politician Rita Bahuguna said that she had discussed joining the party with him.
While Pilot rejected Bahunguna’s assertions, he claimed that “Sachin Tendulkar was maybe the person she communicated with. She lacks the confidence to communicate with me.” Pilot’s current trip to Delhi comes as erstwhile Congress leader Jitin Prasada has switched sides to the BJP in order to boost the saffron party’s chances in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections.
Pilot’s fresh remarks came amid rising unhappiness within the Rajasthan Congress’ top leadership. In July of last year, the Congress leader publicly revolted against Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s leadership, and after a month-long political crisis, the party high command told him that the problems highlighted by him would be resolved and constituted a committee.
The Pilot side, on the other hand, claims that the concerns remain unsolved and that the committee did nothing to address them.
During the day, Pilot met with Congress MLA Hemaram Choudhary, who had submitted his resignation to the Rajasthan assembly speaker. Under Pilot’s leadership, the MLA from Barmer’s Gudhamalani seat was one of 19 lawmakers who revolted against Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot last year.
“After listening to my heart, I decided to resign. People can ask me to reconsider my choice, but it is up to me to make that decision “Reporters were briefed by Chaudhary. The MLA is alleged to be dissatisfied with the Gehlot administration’s decision to halt development projects in his district.
Pilot took part in a demonstration against rising petrol costs in Jaipur before heading for Delhi, and remarked “During the coronavirus epidemic, the country was struck hard by economic slowdown, inflation, and unemployment. People have lost their jobs, and workers are not being paid. It’s tragic that lakhs of people have died, bodies have been dumped into rivers, and every family has battled with the coronavirus, and the government is doing nothing to combat inflation, instead raising gasoline costs.”
“The way central government did a rollback under pressure on vaccination, I am hopeful that it will do a rollback on petrol, diesel prices as well,” Sachin Pilot added.
Earlier, the Congress leader reached Dausa’s Bhandana village to pay tributes to his father and former Union minister Rajesh Pilot on his death anniversary, PTI reported.
