Mukul Roy, a senior BJP politician, rejoined the TMC on Friday and was greeted warmly by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her nephew Abhishek Banerjee at the party headquarters.
“It feels amazing to meet all the old folks of my life,” Roy remarked, referring to Mamata Banerjee as “a leader of Bengal and a leader of the nation.”
I’m relieved to have left the BJP and returned to the old people.”
Mukul Roy was nominated BJP national vice president in the run-up to the Bengal assembly elections after leaving the TMC in 2017.
Mukul, on the other hand, is considered to feel uneasy within the Bengal BJP. Despite the fact that the central BJP leadership maintained him in good standing, he supposedly did not get along with Dilip Ghosh
“I am happy to see this room. Feels elated to leave BJP’s shadow and return here. Bengal will return to its heights and our leader, Mamata, will lead from the front,” Mukul Roy said after being reinducted into the party.
Mamata Banerjee, in welcome Mukul Roy to the party, remarked, “He has returned to our family.”
We warmly greet him. In the celebration, he will play a significant role. Our political party is powerful. I could watch his health decline as he was intimidated and harassed. After this, I believe Mukul will be able to relax.
Mukul Roy, Mamata Banerjee’s erstwhile deputy, has quit the TMC after reported conflicts with the party’s senior leadership on a variety of topics, including clashes with Abhishek Banerjee.
Mukul Roy stated, “I never had an issue with Abhishek.”
When asked why he left the BJP and rejoined the TMC, Roy responded that he couldn’t stay in the BJP for long.
“I will release a statement on the reasons why he left the saffron camp later, but I could not and cannot be in BJP, hence I came back. In the present circumstances in Bengal, no one will stay in the BJP.”
The party also felicitated Mukul Roy’s son, Subhranshu Roy, who had too joined the BJP after the 2019 Lok Sabha election, to the party.
