Kanta Prasad, the proprietor of “Baba Ka Dhaba,” made headlines last year after a YouTuber disclosed his dire financial situation caused by the coronavirus outbreak to the globe, has closed a restaurant he founded with contributions worth lakhs. The explanation was that the restaurant was bringing in very few guests and giving him little profits.
The 80-year-old Delhi resident has reopened his roadside café in Malviya Nagar in the national capital.
“On an investment of ₹ 1 lakh, we only earned ₹ 35,000, that is why we shut it. I am happy running my old eatery as the customer footfall is good here,” he quoted.
After Kanta Prasad’s video, in which he emotionally discussed the loss of business because to the pandemic went viral, people from all across the country donated generously to him.
According to reports, the restaurant, which attracted a lot of attention and drew large crowds at first, eventually lost clients and was plagued by mismanagement.
Mr. Prasad, on the other hand, claims that he would continue to manage his Dhaba till the day he dies. He has also made preparations for his retirement.
“I will run this dhaba till I am alive. The day business sees a slump, I will shut it. We have saved ₹ 20 lakh for me and my wife from the money we received last year,” he added.
The humanitarian gesture had turned into a massive controversy last year after Kanta Prasad aimed allegations of financial misappropriation at the YouTuber, Gaurav Wasan. The social media influencer had denied the charge.
