External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will arrive in Kenya on Saturday for a three-day visit to examine ways to strengthen ties between the two nations.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced Mr. Jaishankar’s visit on Tuesday, saying that the minister and his Kenyan counterpart will co-chair the third meeting of the India-Kenya joint commission, which would examine all aspects of bilateral relations.

From June 9 to 11, the minister of foreign affairs will be in Kuwait. On the African continent, Kenya is an important partner for India. The latest meeting of the India-Kenya joint commission was conducted in Delhi in March 2019, according to the MEA.

“In Nairobi, (Mr) Jaishankar will also meet with other ministers of the Kenyan government to take forward the India-Kenya relationship. The development partnership is an important aspect of the relationship between the two countries which the visit will seek to deepen,” the MEA said in a statement.

The minister will also connect with the growing Indian-origin population, which serves as a vital link between the two nations, according to the statement.

India and Kenya are both members of the United Nations Security Council at the moment. They are Commonwealth members as well. Kenya is a member of the African Union, with which India has long had links, according to the MEA.
