According to authorities, eight passengers aboard a Vistara flight from Mumbai to Kolkata were hurt on Monday when the plane hit strong turbulence just before landing.

The flight, UK 775, arrived safely at Kolkata airport around 4.25 p.m., according to airport director C Pattabhi.

“Three passengers were badly hurt and five passengers sustained minor injuries inside the aeroplane due to turbulence,” he added.

The individuals who were seriously injured were sent to Charnock Hospital for treatment.

According to the airport director, the five passengers who had minor injuries were transferred to their destinations after receiving first attention.

According to him, the plane had 123 people on board.

Due to severe weather, the incident occurred at 4 p.m., when the plane was around 25 nautical miles from Kolkata, according to Pattabhi.

The airline is pained by the awful experience its passengers had, according to a Vistara spokeswoman, and is actively monitoring the health status of those affected.

A 61-year-old passenger suffered a right-hand fracture and was sent to Belle Vue Hospital. A 77-year-old passenger was injured and sent to Charnock Hospital with spinal discomfort. According to DGCA authorities, the third passenger, 36, got a small cut on the forehead and was released after receiving first attention.

“We are investigating the situation as quickly as possible and will provide an update as soon as possible,” the representative stated.
