Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised scientists on Friday for producing ‘Made in India’ Covid vaccinations in record time. He expressed his thanks to Doctors, medical personnel, scientists, and corona warriors at a meeting of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) Society, saying that they did an exceptional job in difficult conditions.

He expressed his gratitude by saying that the country will be eternally thankful to them for saving so many lives.

The Prime Minister recalled India’s experience in the previous century, claiming that whereas it used to take years to get its hands on discoveries developed elsewhere, its scientists are now working side by side with their colleagues on the other side of the world.

“They are working at the same quick pace,” he said.

Noting that the world is grappling with the biggest challenge in a century, he praised the scientific community, saying it is perhaps unprecedented that vaccines were prepared within a year.

On the occasion, Modi reiterated his call for an “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” (Self-reliant) and strong India, saying the COVID-19 crisis may have slowed its pace but our resolve remains the same.

He stated that India aspires to be self-sufficient in a variety of areas, including agriculture, astronomy, disaster management, and defence technology, vaccines, virtual reality, and biotechnology, as well as biotechnology and battery technology.

He said that India is now leading the globe in sustainable development and renewable energy, and that its position in software and satellite development is helping other countries improve.

The CSIR Society is part of the Ministry of Science and Technology’s Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. Its efforts are carried out over India through 37 laboratories and 39 outreach centres.
