According to authorities, a man was detained today in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, for reportedly shooting dead his neighbor’s pet dog after it attacked his wife.
According to police officer Manish Mahor, Narendra Vishvaiyya, 53, was detained under the relevant provision of the Indian penal code for “mischief by killing or maiming livestock, etc.”
The accused, a Sudama Nagar resident, was enraged that the dog had reportedly attacked his wife and shot it with his licenced rifle on Wednesday night, according to the official.
According to him, a gunshot struck the animal in the neck, killing him instantly.
According to the official, the accused stated that the dog had also bitten others in the area, and that if the accused’s accusations are shown to be accurate, appropriate legal action will be taken against the pet’s owner as well.
