Pathapatnam Police in Andhra Pradesh’s Srikakulam district fined a wedding party Rs 2 lakh for breaking Covid-19 lockdown rules.
The fine was levied on one Ram Babu, a teacher from Chandraiahpet village, according to Sub Inspector Md. Ameer Ali.
Ram was informed about the Covid-restrictions and reminded about being permitted to invite 20 people, according to Ali, who had obtained prior permission from Mandal Revenue Officer (MRO) Kali Prasad for the planning of a marriage ceremony at his residence on Thursday.
When a team of police and revenue officials went to investigate after being notified about the prospect of a large gathering at the wedding, they discovered that Ram Babu had not followed their warning and was intending to have an elaborate celebration, according to the sub-inspector.
When the investigating officers questioned the cook on the scene, they discovered that he had been given orders to make both lunch and dinner for 250 people.
Ram Babu was promptly fined Rs 2 lakh by the MRO, police said, adding that no complaint had been filed against him.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh reported 14,429 new coronavirus cases on Friday, bringing the total to 16,57,986. A health department bulletin indicated that in the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. on Friday, the state saw 20,746 individuals recover from the pandemic virus and another 103 succumb. According to the data, there are now 1,80,362 active cases in the state, with a total of 14,66,990 recoveries and 10,634 fatalities. Chittoor led the way with 2,291 new cases, followed by East Godavari with 2,022.
Four districts reported between 1,000 and 1,200 new cases apiece, while the remaining seven reported less than 1,000. COVID-19 deaths continued to be high in Chittoor, with 15 reported in the last 24 hours.
In a single day, West Godavari had 15 additional deaths, Visakhapatnam had 10, SPS Nellore had nine, Anantapuramu, East Godavari, and Krishna each had eight, Guntur and Vizianagaram each had seven, Srikakulam had six, Kadapa and Kurnool each had four, and Prakasam had two.
