Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, said on Monday (May 10) that his government intends to construct 300 oxygen plants in the state.
He also said that, while he had been able to obtain oxygen supplies from other states with the assistance of railways and the Air Force in order to cope with the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a need to establish new plants in the state.
“Oxygen Express is in service, with tankers being transported on massive Air Force aircraft. We delivered 1000 MT of oxygen to the state yesterday. However, it should not be limited to supply; Oxygen Plants should also be built. Yogi Adityanath said, “Work is underway to set up 300 oxygen plants in the state.”
“In addition, we have given oxygen concentrators to all districts.” During the first period, all districts received the same care. More concentrators will be issued as well,” he said.
The chief minister acknowledged that the second wave of the pandemic presented new challenges, especially due to an increase in oxygen demand.
“The second wave presented us with a new opportunity. The need for oxygen increased abruptly. We must also provide oxygen to Ayodhya, from where it is sent to neighbouring districts. We are grateful to the Government of India and Prime Minister Modi for organising special trains for this,” he added.
Previously, Adityanath said that there was no lack of oxygen in the state. He also threatened to take action against people and hospitals who incorrectly reported an oxygen shortage.
