NCB has named Rhea in its charge sheet in SSR case
On Friday, in its drugs-related case involving the death of Bollywood star Sushant Singh Rajput last year. the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has filed a charge-sheet before a special court in Mumbai. The Anti-Drugs Department has brought its charges against 33 accused at the NDPS Session Court.
In the drug case related to the actor’s death, the list of accused include Sushant Singh Rajput’s friend Rhea Chakraborty, Rajput’s former manager Samuel Miranda and household aid Dipesh Sawant were also called, as was the actress’s brother Showik Chakraborty.
According to India Today, the charge sheet which was presented roughly a year after Rajput’s suicide at the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act Sessions Court in Mumbai has about 2,000 witnesses’ accounts been included in the text.
Following a previous case — 15/20 — based on chats issued to the NCB by the Enforcement Directorate, the NCB filed case 16/20. (ED). The ED was looking into a money-laundering case filed by Rajput’s father against Rhea and others. Rajput committed suicide on June 14, 2020, at his Bandra home.
Following the arrest of suspected drug peddlers, the NCB claimed to have discovered a connection to Chakraborty. According to the NCB, Chakraborty, Rajput’s cook Dipesh Sawant, and Chakraborty’s boss Samuel Miranda purchased drugs for the late actor on his orders.
The accused were arrested by the NCB under the NDPS Act’s Sections 8(c) read with Section 20(b) (ii), 22, 27A, 28, 29, and 30. This charges include suspected drug and psychotropic medication use and possession, funding illegal trade and aiding and abetting criminals, as well as abetment and criminal conspiracy, as well as the intention and planning to commit an offence.
In June of last year, Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his Bandra flat, sparking a huge controversy about nepotism and how Bollywood works, which quickly devolved into a drugs case involving many major names in the industry.
