Bad lifestyle and unbalanced weight go hand in hand. But skipping meals, eating less and avoiding fat-rich foods aren’t the solutions, indicates studies.
A poor lifestyle more so leads to obesity, which has resulted in various weight loss trends. Words like “go skinny”, “fit to fat” and “keto” are running at large on social media. But does a nutritionist recommend skipping fats? Here’s what you should know..
According to therapeutic nutrition, not even a single nutrient should be removed from a diet, be it fat or carbohydrates. The only key to a balanced dietary regime for weight loss is controlling the portion size of your meals. In case of fat, it should be restricted to 1 or 2 teaspoons i.e. 5-10 grams.
Good vs Bad Fats
Every energy has two polar opposites to it – Good and bad. So is the case with our fat. Good fats are called unsaturated fats (MUFA and PUFA) that are available in the form of vegetable oils, nuts and fish oils. Whereas bad fats are called saturated and trans fats, which are found in red meat, butter, cheese, coconut oil, etc.

Fat vs Fad
On a final note, people who want to lose weight should avoid pure fats like oil, fried foods and reusing the same oil for cooking. Vanaspati oils, refined oils, and hydrogenated oils should also be kept away. Every time you’re at the grocery store, don’t keep buying the same oil again and again. Remember to change and rotate between different types of cooking oil to provide your body with numerous health benefits. Olive, nuts and fish oils are the best!
Less Is More
Less is more so a simple and light diet is the best thing you can go for just ensure fats, fibers, and protein in your meals. You will most certainly reach your health goals provided that you also exercise.
