Uttar Pradesh General Secretary for East region gave a head start to Congress’ political campaign prior to national elections on Monday from Prayagraj.

Priyanka also visited Bade Hanuman temple to offer prayers to Lord Hanuman 24 days before the Lok Sabha elections begin, reported PTI.

On the contrary, the ruling government was prompted to announce national mourning on the tragic demise of former Goa chief minister, Manohar Parrikar, who took his last breath on Sunday evening (March 17).

Political pundits are shedding light on how ‘episodical’ and ‘directionless’ Priyanka’s second visit to the state seems as after being appointed the General Secretary for Congress, her focus on the East region is almost nill.

She arrived in Lucknow on Sunday afternoon and held several meetings with party leaders for the upcoming general elections.

A day before she began her campaign, Ms. Gandhi wrote an open letter to the people of Uttar Pradesh, stating how she would take the help of “Gangaji” to reach their doorsteps to establish a “saccha samvaad” (truthful dialogue) with them and bring forth political change.

Priyanka’s letter tacitly points at Modi’s reference to Ganga as his “mother” to maintain that it was “the call of Ganga Maa that had prompted him to contest from Varanasi”.

While taking a tour of the politically crucial state, Priyanka recalled her grandmother Indira Gandhi’s words to her as a child on “being fearless” and how “living fearlessly solves everything”.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also drank the water of Ganga river after praying at Sangam.
