The Election Commission on Sunday announced that the Lok Sabha election will be held in 7 phases.
The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sunil Arora said that the Model Code of Conduct has kicked in as the dates are declared for the upcoming 17th general elections.
The polls are set to begin from April 11 and continue till May 19. The counting will be held on May 23.
Nearly 90 crore voters will be eligible to vote for 543 Lok Sabha constituencies across the country.
The voter count has increased almost by 9 crores from 2014’s general election, reported NDTV.
Jammu & Kashmir: Election Commission (EC) due to improper safety amid India-Pakistan tensions won’t conduct state assembly polls simultaneous to Lok Sabha polls in the state, reported media sources.
