Eight people have tested positive for H1N1 over the weekend of which four are in critical condition, the Madhya Pradesh health department reported.
After swine flu breakout in Delhi in January that outspread in Madhya Pradesh as well, the deadly contagion has resulted in over 55 deaths in the state while over 270 have tested positive.
Three of the four suspected patients are undergoing treatment at private care facilities. One of the critically ill is on ventilator life support and has been admitted in Hamidia hospital reported TOI.
According to doctors, the patient is not a native of Bhopal. So far this year, 97 people in Bhopal have tested positive for H1N1.
Testing of H1N1 takes places in two laboratories of Bhopal. Health department has informed that over four dozen samples of suspected HINI patients are pending.
HINI testing is also conducted by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)
laboratory in Jabalpur.
“All facilities to identify and treat HINI patients are functioning optimally. There is sufficient quantity of medicine (Oseltamivir) available to treat HINI cases. We have provided all our staffers handling swine flu patients with specialised N95 masks,” a health department official told TOI.
