Switzerland, Iceland, and seven European Union countries allowed the Serum Institute-manufactured Oxford-Astrazeneca vaccine on Thursday, a day after external affairs minister S Jaishankar said he had approached the European Union to accept COVID-19 vaccines, such as Covishield and Covaxin, for Indian nationals travelling to Europe.

Austria, Germany, Slovenia, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Estonia, and Spain, according to sources, have verified that Covishield would be accepted for travel entrance. Covishield has also been approved for the Schengen area by Switzerland.
