Concrete efforts are being made by the Urban Development and Housing Department to realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of Waste to Wealth in the state.
Through these efforts, clean energy is being provided to the citizens. With this, special efforts are being made in the field of environmental protection in urban areas.
A 400 metric tonne per day capacity bio-CNG unit is under construction in Adampur area of Bhopal, in which an investment of Rs 120 crore is being made.
For this, a contract has been signed with Enviro Private Limited on PPP model.
Efforts are being made to start operation of the unit soon under this contract.
The wet waste generated in urban local bodies in the state is being managed in a better way.
Madhya Pradesh is emerging as a model in this matter among other states of the country.
For this, a policy decision has been taken to establish multi-purpose units for making bio gas and CNG from urban wet waste. Better work has been done in this direction in Indore.
Indore
In Indore city, units for the production of biogas from wet waste have been established, with a capacity of 20 tonnes per day from Choithram Sabzi Mandi and 15 tonnes per day from Kabitkhedi.
An amount of about Rs 15 crore has been invested in these units on PPP mode.
Indore Municipal Corporation has established Gobardhan Bio CNG plant with 550 metric tonne processing capacity in Devguradiya.
About 17 thousand 500 kg of bio-CNG and 100 tonnes of high quality compost are being produced from this unit.
This project has been prepared on PPP model basis with Environmental Infrastructure and Services Limited and German company Proveps.
Gwalior
In Gwalior Municipal Corporation area, efforts are being made to convert the dung obtained from 8 thousand cows into biogas through garbage processing plants.
For this, a unit of 100 tonne per day capacity has been built near the cow shed.
Along with this, another bio gas plant is being established in Gwalior itself. Its capacity has been proposed to be 435 tonnes per day.
Efforts in other urban local bodies
Efforts are being made towards implementation of small projects for making bio gas from wet waste under the standalone scheme in Morena, Burhanpur, Khandwa, Dewas, Ratlam and Ujjain on cluster basis. Their capacity will be 600 tonnes per day.
Instructions of Urban Development Minister
Urban Development and Housing Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya has given instructions for better management of wet waste generated in urban municipal bodies and preparing proposals for clean energy production units.
He said that the state government will provide all possible support to the units proposed by the urban bodies.
